Also known as indigo powder, Nila is derived from the leaves of the indigo plant and has traditionally been used by Moroccans for centuries to even the skin tone, reduce dark spots and discolouration. It is used for its anti-aging and anti-inflammatory properties. A little amount goes a long way as it is highly pigmented.
Method A — With Black Soap
Combine Nila powder with your desired amount of Moroccan black soap. Apply the mixture to your skin while massaging gently and allow it to sit for 10 to 14 minutes. Rinse thoroughly and follow up with a Kessa glove to exfoliate and remove dead skin.
Method B — As a Mask
Mix Nila powder with either water, rose water, or yogurt. Apply the mixture to your face and body and let it sit and dry for 10 to 14 minutes. Cleanse using a cotton pad or towel before rinsing with water. There is no need for a cotton pad when using yogurt — just rinse with water.
A little amount goes a very long way as it is highly pigmented. Start with a small quantity and adjust as needed.
